This covers the Early Republic of American History through the period (1800–1848), each event demonstrated using historical thinking skills.
Keep note that:
Blue Events is under the Unit 1, The Age of Jefferson; During Jefferson's presidency, Jefferson promoted Democratic-Republican Ideals, westward expansion, which is shown through the Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Green Events is under Unit 2, The Era of Good Feelings and Monroe's Presidency, During James Monroe's presidency there was national unity, shown through economic growth, westward expansion, and rising nationalism, but also displays sectional tensions.
Pink Events is under Unit 3, Westward Settlement, driven by seeking opportunities for more land, and new territories west creating a debate over the balance of free states and slave states, while also taking European Powers out o the Western Hemisphere.
The One Tan event is under Unit 4, The Roots of Sectionalism: Industrial New England, the Agricultural Northwest, Slavery and the South, and the Western Frontier, showing the regional differences based on Industrial New England focusing on manufacturing, the Agricultural Northwest on food production and transportation, while the South displays a slave based region.
The Purple Events is under Unit 5, The age of Jackson, shown by the rise of the “Common Man,”Andrew Jackson expanded democracy. His presidency included the Indian Removal Act, forcing Native Americans west, and the Tariff of Abomination and Nullification Crisis, and the growth of new political parties such as the Democrats and Whigs.
Orange Events is under Unit 6, Society 1820 to 1860, as this period showed widespread religious and social reform movement, The Second Great awakening introduced new religious and moral reform movements, including Transcendentalism and the Temperance Movements. Reformers fought for Women's rights and the abolition of slavery.
