The Era and Politics of the “Common Man”- Contexulization- 1828 to 1837 & The Two Parties: Democrats and Whigs -Comparison- (jan 1, 1828 – jan 1, 1840)
Description:
Prior to the Era and Politics of the “Common Man,” American Politics were run by the Southern Planter and Northern merchants, or the elites. While the elites dominated the American government, spreading democracy was on a shift, there were new suffrage laws, change in political parts, campaigns, and improved education. During the Era and Politics of the “Common Man” the Universal White Male Suffrage changed voting laws so all men with and without property were able to vote. Political parties changed as now there was a new two party system, which eventually turned into a 3rd party system, as the whigs, workingmen's party, and more parties were on the rise. There was an increase in police and it focused on the common man.”
