Judah / Babylon History around 600 BC

This is my attempt to correlate some of the various events in history from different sources, including the Bible, Jewish historical sources, the Babylonian Chronicles, Chronicles of Chaldean Kings, and others.

I hope to get a better understanding of why people did what they did, and why things went down as they did. For example, why did Nebuchadrezzar treat Jeremiah with such kindness, offering him to live as a royal guest in Babylon for the rest of his life? Also, what was Ishmael hoping to gain by slaying Gedaliah, the remaining Judeans, and their Chaldean guards? Did he really think this was a strategy to take back the throne??? There are so many questions, and sometimes just having a visual of when events transpired can help explain the whos and whys. I'll keep adding events to this timeline as I run across them with dates.

Dating this timeline has proven to be a real challenge. For example, the Babylonian new year begins with Nisanu (~mid-March) and ends with Addaru (~mid-February.) The Jewish Ecclesiastical Year (New Year for kings, from which months and festivals are counted) follows the same pattern, going from Nisan to Adar. The Jewish traditional calendar, however, begins with Tishri, the 7th Ecclesiastical month, and ends with Elul, the 6th Ecclesiastical month. At least they all follow a 12 month cycle, more or less, although the number of days gets more complicated. Also, to correct for lunar shifts, the Hebrew calendar inserts a leap month from time to time, known as Adar II. Add to that the transliteration of Hebrew into the western alphabet, and you may end up with a month being spelled Tebeth or Tevet.

To help identify the comparable modern Gregorian Calendar date, I'm using the calendar tool kindly provided by https://www.abdicate.net/cal.aspx.

Because of the obscure identification of some dates, such as, "In the 5th year of King __________'s exile, on the 12th day of the 7th month," I can't be 100% certain I have the date correct. Is it
(1) the 7th month of the Ecclesiastical year, from the year the king was taken, or
(2) the 7th month of the traditional year, or
(3) is it 5 years, 7 months, and 12 days since he was taken? From what I can find, I believe it's the first, and in most cases, that's how I'm interpreting it.

For dates where I only have the year, I have arbitrarily chosen June 15 (mid-year) as the month/day. If the actual date is June 15, I will denote that. Otherwise June 15 simply marks a placeholder for that year.

I've just started! Please be patient! My time is VERY limited, and there is a ton of material to pore over. (More like a lifetime's worth.) Some of the dates are likely to change, as I get more detailed information. If you have any details, additional events, or corrections, please leave a note, along with the source of the information. I would love all the help and input I can get!
