Trans Atlantic Slave Trade Timelime

For more than 2,000 years, humans have subjected others to slavery, with the transatlantic slave trade being one of the most notable. The trade occurred over a period of around three and a half centuries. During this period, more than 12 million were displaced from their homes and subjected to slavery, whereby they were mistreated and abused. The transatlantic trade began in the 16th century and ended in the 19th century.
