Was ready to move against Saladin in Egypt but died before he could.
Nurredin left his son as-Salih as ruler in Damascus and another son, Shams-ad-Din governor of Aleppo. Their cousin, Saif ad-Din of Mosul wanted Aleppo, was successful and aimed for Damascus.
Saladin spread discourse between Saif ad-Din and his brother, Imad-ad-Din, opening a rift between them.
He then chastised Damascus for not calling him for help and they opened their gates to him.
Saladin had taken over.
