Lowell system
Description:
The Lowell System was part of the Industrial Revolution. It was made up of textile factories and boarding homes for young women. It encouraged women to get out of the role of the housewife, and to begin work for their own individual gain. The factories provided women with communities, activities, and moral instructions. The Lowell system, gave women more independence compared to when they live and worked on farms but after a few years, the system began to disintegrate and it disappeared quickly.
