Expanded Voting Rights
Description:
During the early 1800s, the US government expanded voting rights. The expansion allowed white men without property, military experience, or well paid taxes, to vote. It was a good way to show Americans that social classes were becoming less exclusive and that more aspects of governmental issues were becoming fairer but unfortunately (but not surprisingly), the expansion did not include women or African Americans. This is another example of America trying to be more inclusive but still managing to show it underlying misogynistic and racist beliefs.
