Old Light/New Lights
Description:
Old Lights were tradition puritan preachers that hosted services without much emotion or enthusiasm. The New Light style of preaching was a result of the Great Awakening and preachers such as Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield played major roles in the new style of preaching. The new form of worship brought together worshippers from all walks of life. Many of the preachers were not formally trained and their services were help outside. The context was that of salvation and acknowledging sins so that one can plead for God’s grace. The evolution of preaching styles set the stage for the American Revolution.
