The exact beginning and end is debatable, but the revolution occured roughly between 1760 and 1840.
±1770/1780: With the invention of his Watt steam engine, James Watt (1736-1819) improved the power, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of Thomas Newcoman's steam engine. He made the steam engine ready for general use (since it was very inefficient before) and therefore is seen as the inventor of the steam engine. This innovation was fundamental to the changes brought bij the Industrial Revolution.
Conditions for the arising of the Industrial Revolution in the West:
-Due to the Enlightenment, people's interest in scientific experiments and inventions was great.
Result: for example; the invention of the steam engine, the invention of the spinning machine.
-Money and salesmen (who wanted to invest and commercialise ofcourse) were present.
The revolution began in Great Brittain. (Omdat daar veel kapitaalkrachtige ondernemers waren)
Gevolgen industriële revolutie: sociale kwestie (enorm slechte omstandigheden arbeiders, terwijl de bovenlaag juist profiteerde van enorme rijkdom) --> socialisme/marxisme/communisme
