This was the third pandemic of cholera originating from India. The disease spread into Russia, killing over one million people. It also spread to Great Britain from its imperialism of India. 23,000 people were killed in Great Britain from cholera. This breakout is considered to have the highest number of fatalities throughout all the epidemics of the 19th century.
