Plague of Justinian (1 янв 541 г. – 1 янв 542 г.)
Описание:
The plague of Justinian was the first recorded outbreak of the bubonic plague. The plague of Justinian began with rats brought to Europe on Egyptian grain boats. It was these rats that transmitted throughout the Eastern Roman Empire and the eastern Mediterranean. Overall, this outbreak killed approximately 25 million people, including a quarter of the population of the eastern Mediterranean. Many people state that it affected almost half of the population of Europe. People died so quickly that they were simply left in piles. Victims of the plague became delirious, and experienced fever, swelling, and comas.
