Walt disney and his longtime collaborator ub iwerks would create “the Alice Comedies” a series running from 1923 to 1927 where the titular alice would interact with different cartoon characters. This and his other character oswald the rabbit would be smash hits and in 1928 universal studios would take control over the production and disney would lose the rights to this character
