Shortly after the disaster at Pearl Harbor, over 110,000 Japanese and Japanese-Americans were placed into internment camps (aka concentration camps). The government's justification for this was that these Japanese Americans represented a security risk to the U.S. in the base of a Japanese invasion. Because of WASP America's hysteria and paranoia after Dec. 7, these atrocities were put upon undeserving loyal Americans (consider also, the actions of the US during the Cold War, and after Sept. 11). The US Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the camps in the 1944 case of Korematsu vs US. It took over four decades (1988) for the US Government to officially apologize and pay reparations to the survivors of $20,000.
