The drivers continue to walk, and they see a German staff car. They see Germans on a bridge. They hide when walking, but get shot at. Aymo is shot and killed on the way. The Italians were shooting at them because they thought that they were Germans. The three find a farmhouse to sleep in, and Bonello runs away to be a voluntary prisoner.
