Nine young black men were falsely accused of raping two white women on a train. Eight of the nine were sentenced to die. However, the American Communist party ordered for the appeal of the boys. Some of their convictions were overturned. Despite all this, blacks would support FDR, because they felt he was supportive of their cause.
