During WW II, several new systems were made in order to aid the US in the war. These systems include: electronic navigation for precision bombing ,deep-ocean camera systems, early magnetometers, side-scan sonar instruments, early technology for guiding Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs).
This event was significant because it allowed humans to make new technological discoveries that would advance their ability to utilize the ocean.
