The experimental Chernobyl Reactor was supposed to bring energy and prosperity to the masses. A new breed of machine, designed with a grand scale and goal in mind. However, a "routine" maintenance test, carried out by inadequately trained workers, caused a rupturing of fuel, which erupted in a nuclear explosion, causing dozens of cancer-related deaths. This tragic event demonstrates the need of proper education for workers, and safe fail-safe strategies, no matter how unlikely a disaster may be.
