The start of World War I started when Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated igniting Europe into a complete frenzy. The war was a very gruesome war because of the new war technologies and the fighting being based on Trench Warfare. The war was fought between the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire) and the Allied Powers ( France, Britain, Russia and later the United States of America) .
