A large mob including hundreds of Buddhist Monks attacked Muslim Shops, Homes and Mosques in Mandalay, creating major destruction and resulting in several deaths. The violence spread to several other towns across the country. Security forces looked on and did nothing. The Violence started due to leaflets which urged Buddhists to boycott Muslims Stores and not to marry Muslims.
