The stock market crash of 1929 also known as “Black Tuesday” was one of the primary events that led to the great depression. This caused the economy to collapse and left america was a 30% unemployment rate with almost no safety net. This event, while caused by a shift to the right resulted in a shift to the left. During the great depression Franklin D. Roosevelt implemented many policies and other social programs to try to help the american people. This is a move to the left as the increased social programs and increase in government regulation are left wing principles.
