European powers will not be permitted further American colonization. Drafted by President Monroe, it announced that if any country attempted to re-colonize Latin America, or if Russia attempted to move on the western coast of America, the U.S. would respond with force. This doctrine has been used throughout the history of the U.S. in order to keep the Americas independent from other continental control. Whether or not this doctrine should still be used today is up for debate.
