This group were nicknamed "Southern Ape" because they lived in the South, in Africa. This group was around approximately 5 to 1 million years ago. Scientists believe this species was around for approximately 2 million years . They could use tools that they found, (sticks and bones) but they could not make tools. This was because they had chimp sized brains. An inference we can make about Australopithecus by looking at this scull is the size of their brains based on the size of the scull. An observation we can make about the skeleton from the video is that they were more hunched over than us.
