During a train-ride in 1985, Maya Bykova, met Volodya, a Mansi woman, who told the researcher of repeated visits of a tall, hairy, humanlike creature to the family hunting cabin for nearly 30 years. As a rule, the creature showed before dawn, announcing it's arrival by knocking on a tree. The sightings invariably occurred during August. Following an invitation by Volodya and his wife, Nadya, Bykova visited the family cabin which was in a cedar forest surrounded by marshes. At dawn, the day after their arrival they heard two knocks on a tree, and there about 20 ft away was a figure standing with it's right shoulder leaning against the bear trunk of a dead cedar. The animal stood 6.5 to 7 ft tall and was covered with reddish hair, the only exception was his forearm with white hair, which is why Volodya called him "Mecheny", meaning "marked one". The creature had no visible genitals, long straight legs and enormous feet, its arms were hefty and hung loosely forward. The creature, whose head was elongated at the back, stood directly on the wide shoulders of it's barrel-like chest, its eyes were almond-shaped and set under a large brow-ridge. After about 2 minutes of Bykova and Volodya, their dog started barking and the animal sprinted into the woods on two legs, leaping as it went. The sighting was seen near the "leaping yeti" video in 2010, and appears to be the same type of bigfoot.
