"The 15-year comprehensive financial plan that Baesler announced in February calls for the purchase by 1999 of nearly $8 million in library materials - including books, audio-visual materials, microfilm and other items. Schabel said 90 percent to 95 percent of the money would be spent on books.
Under the plan, the main library would open in 1988, with $1 million in new library materials - 175,000 items. By 2008, if the collection continues to grow at the projected rate of 5 percent each year, officials expect to have 457,000 items in the new library, which would have a 480,000-item capacity.
Librarians are already spending the first $1 million. The first priority, Steensland said, is to replace books that were stolen, lost or damaged." Cite 3
