- not good at fighting
- Chancellor of the Exchequer could not make him understand his money
- he got agitated at advisors
- fell in love with a man called Piers Gaveston whom he greatly favoured in court
- barons became impatient - banned together in a society called the Ordainers
- captured Piers Gaveston and put him to death
- Edward fell in love with Hugh Despenser
- used Edward's favour for their personal greed
- Ordainers rebelled but were beaten
- likely assassinated by Isabella and Mortimer at Berkely castle
