Description:
Edward III decided to invade France - English kings had once owned a lot of France
- France was the richest kingdom in Europe
- more people, more knights, more castles
- cost a fortune without any reward
- though the French had crossbows, the English/ Welsh had long bows that shot a lot faster
- managed to confuse and defeat the French at the Battle of Crécy which was a major victory
