Description:
A renewed period of tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union, originating in the aftermath of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
It was marked by the dissolution of the policy of detente for the Reagan Doctrine that favored regime change. As a result the threat of Mutually Assured Destruction through nuclear war was brought back into public consciousness.
