Life of Charles Martel (may 11, 688 – feb 27, 741)

Description:

The great grandson of mayor Pippin I who made the rise of power of the Carolingians possible. Successfull wars against the Saxons, Frisians, Alamanni and the Bavarians. He defeated the Muslims near Poitiers aswell.Whilst for the Muslims this was a minor defeat as they couldn't get supplies over. For Europe it was one of the greatest victories, stopping the Muslim expansion in Europe. It also helped the Carolingians gain even more support and gain support of the church (see Boniface)
