Was one of the many example of wealthy aristocrates who searched their ambiton not in the decaying empire but rather in the stability of the Christian church. and became bishop. By refusing to give away one of his churches tot he emperor he managed to further the separation of the church and the state. later came to be seen as one of the fathers of the Christian religion.Added to timeline:
