Description:
As oppose to the local church in the 9th and 10th century when it was under control of kings and lords who chose the priests and bishops through which they practised simony ( The buying and selling of church offices which was prohibited) Pope Leo actually dismissed this and wanted the church and state apart.Added to timeline:
