Persia (apr 17, 550 BC – jan 4, 330 BC)
Description:
Cyrus the Great amassed a huge empire across the Middle East known as the Persian Empire. The Persians were tolerant of local customs and centralized taxes, they divided the empire into “satraps” or regional kingdoms, they promoted trade and were advanced in ironworking, and they practiced zoroastrianism. The decline of the Persians was due to the conquests of Alexander the Great and his ability to sack the Persian lands.
