War of 1812 (jun 12, 1812 – feb 16, 1815)

Description:

A war between the US and the UK over land disputes and impressment of American sailors and skirmishes in the Northwest territory due to British forts. The British allied with Native American tribes like Tecumseh's Confederacy, sparking numerous Native American wars with the Americans. Remaining Native American power was broken. War ended in a draw. Officially ended with the signing of the Treaty of Ghent on December 24, 1814, but it took a month for news to reach the US, so fighting continued until February 16, 1815, when it was ratified. This marks the first time the US formally declared war on another country. It is the seventh deadliest war in American history.
