Gulf War (aug 2, 1990 – feb 28, 1991)
Description:
The Gulf War was triggered by Iraq's invasion in Kuwait. Iraq's president, Saddam Hussein wanted Kuwait's large oil reserves to cancel the dept Iraq had with Kuwait. The United Nations called for Iraq to retreat from Kuwait and imposed a ban on trade with Iraq.
Iraq refused to back down and so NATO allies came to help push back Iraq. By Feb 28, a ceasefire happened and Iraq resistance collapsed.
Terms of peace: Iraq recognized Kuwait's independence, got rid of all nuclear weapons and missiles.
