Council of Trent (aug 1, 1545 – jan 14, 1563)
Description:
The Council of Trent was founded by Pope Paul III in order to kickstart the Counter-Reformation in response to the Protestant Reformation. It was the 19th-century ecumenical council that wanted to roll back Protestant ideas and establish a strong Catholic stronghold in Italy, which was an example of powerful institutions such as the church could alter the religious agenda of the enviroment they were in.
