Attack of Fort Sumter - April 12, 1861 – April 13, 1861 (apr 12, 1861 – sep 15, 1861)

Description:

After the secession of South Carolina, the United States Major, Robert Anderson and his men of 85 soldiers were located on Fort Moultrie. However, Anderson moved his army to Fort Sumter which was in the middle of the Charleston Harbour. On the day of April 12, 1861, Confederate Brig. Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard opened fire on the fort and began the American Civil War. However, the Union army in the fort did not fire back at the Confederate Brigade because they had a limited amount of ammunition. The Union Captain, Abner Doubleday was allowed to shoot the first defensive shot at the Confederate Brigade just two hours after the Confederates had opened fire. Anderson eventually surrendered his position in the Fort on April 13, 1861, and marched to Union boats to be ferried outside of the Harbour.
