Fort Sumter (apr 12, 1861 – apr 13, 1861)
Description:
Right before the Civil War, Abraham Lincoln sent a ship out to resupply Fort Sumter. The Confederate President Jefferson Davis knew that if he attacked the ship then it would surely lead to war, but they went to the base itself, instead. When the north refused to surrender their base to the Confederates, they bombarded the base for 33 hours until they surrendered it. This action lead to the CIvil War.
