Description:
Andrew Jackson announced during his Inaugural Address that he is planning on moving all Native Americans to the Great Plains, and in 1830 the act was passed. The Indians were removed by force from their tribes and moved to reservations. Around 2000 Cherokee Indians were killed, and 2000 more died of starvation and exposure to illness. The path the Cherokees took is now known as the Trail of Tears. By 1838 all Indian tribes were relocated to reservations.
