Nova Scotia & Mi'kmaq People:
Treaties of peace & friendship (1760-1761) (apr 8, 1760 – aug 19, 1761)
Description:
"Treaties of peace and friendship between the Governor of Nova Scotia and the Mi'kmaq, Maliseet and Passamaquoddy of Nova Scotia; significant as thy promised Aboriginal rights to harvest fish, game, wild fruit and berries and the promise of a moderate livelihood for treaty Indians; the Mi'kmaq never ceded their title to land and other rights. (The Supreme Court upholds and interprets these rights in the Donald Marshall case 1999)."
