Description:

"Anti-slavery groups organize the Free Soil Party, a political party opposed to the westward expansion of slavery.

The Free Soil Party distanced itself from abolitionists, instead focusing on the economic threats slavery posed to labour in western territories. The Free Soil Party eventually merged with anther new political party--the Republicans."
