"John Hawkins, an English naval commander, establishes Great Britain as a leader in the slave trade.
The 'Triangle Trade' made Hawkins and other slave traders huge profits hauling human cargo from Africa to the Americas. The other sides of the triangle were shipping sugar, tobacco, and cotton to Europe, and finished goods such as textiles to Africa."
