Description:

Hoke Smith was a U.S. Senator from Georgia. He was appointed the chairman of the Commission to study national aid for vocational education. Through the recommendations of the Commission to promote Vocational education, a proposal for legislation including a draft of a bill for vocational education was made; The Smith-Hughes Act of 1917.
