Maurya Empire (jan 1, 322 BC – jan 1, 180 BC)
A man by the name of Chandragupta Maurya, a royal from the Kingdom of Magadha in India, had amassed an army of young men who wanted to end the oppressive and corrupt Nanda Empire. They had already begun their revolt when Alexander crossed the Indus river but it was in 321 BCE that he managed to overthrow King Dhana Nanda and take control of his empire. From there he subjugated the rest of Northern India and even came to a peace treaty with Seleucus by giving him 500 war elephants in exchange for the Indian territories that were under Greek rule.
