Seige of Antwerp (sep 27, 1914 – oct 10, 1914)
Description:
With the fall of Liège on 16 August, Albert I, the Belgian King, ordered his remaining troops to withdraw to Antwerp were they rejoined with the garrison stationed there. They still attacked the German First Army from the back, resulting in the Germans decided to eliminate the threat. British support was deployed, but the Belgian government had already evacuated the city. A mass evacuation was ordered on 7 October and the German Army moved to occupy the city two days later.
