Berlin Blockade (jun 24, 1948 – may 12, 1949)
Description:
The Soviets blocked the Western Allies railway, road, and canal access to the portions of Berlin under Western control. They offered to drop the blockade if the Western Allies withdrew the Deutsche Mark from West Berlin. Citizens of West Berlin consequently faced starvation and lack of supplies. The Berlin airlift commenced to bring supplies to these people.
