Hungarian Uprising (oct 23, 1956 – nov 10, 1956)

Description:

The Hungarian Uprising was the result of complete control of Hungary by the Soviet Union. Hungary saw it unfair that the Soviet took their wealth and placed their own troops in their country. At the time, Hungary was suffering from a bad harvest, fuel shortages, and a cold and wet autumn, which all led to an unstable country. On October 31st, 1956, Hungary announced that it would withdraw itself from the Warsaw Pact. This was too far for the Soviet forces, and they immediately went on a bloody killing spree, resulting in around 30,000 casualties. This is an example of a liberation movement, which is a revolution that seeks independence from a colonial power.
