Free Jazz (jan 1, 1959 – jan 1, 1969)

Description:

To hell with limitations! John F. Kennedy takes office and promises to lead them to "A New Frontier." He was the Abraham Lincoln of the 60's as he desired to end Segregation while Abraham Lincoln wanted to end slavery. JFK wanted equal rights for African Americans, alleviate widespread poverty, and to neutralize communism. Then horrible events happen through the sixties like Kennedy's Assassination in 1963. The Vietnam War in 1965, Americans did not agree with the war as war would hit the economy and the country as a whole. Along with JFK, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, and Robert Kennedy were all assassinated during the 60s. Young people started Peace corps as they challenged segregation. These people started the idea of hippies: they rejected all things normal including politics, religion, and even sexuality.

The Music itself was unlimited in sound, technique, and expression. Musicians were dissatisfied with limitations and formal structure so they ditched formal chord structures and tempos. It became known as Energy Music.
