Berlin Blockade (may 12, 1949 – may 12, 1949)
Description:
The Cold War crisis comes to an end, and the Soviet Union lifts an 11 month blockade against West Berlin.
-This was soon after the new introduction of the Deutsche Mark.
-Britian and the United States also lifted lots of supplies through airplanes.
-The Soviets had even cut off power to them.
-As a result of the blockade most of west Germany was left without food and necessary supplies.
-The blockade was finally lifted by a large United States airship that brought supplies for the first time in 11 months.
