The Battle of Midway (jun 4, 1942 – jun 7, 1942)

Description:

Right after the US turned the Japanese away from New Guinea and such in the battle of Coral Sea, they scored a huge victory by taking down 10 of Japan's aircrafts when the US only lost one. After this Japan was devastated and could not muster enough strength to strike back, so the US started to take the war back to Japan. The plan for Japan was two fold offensive attack from General MacArthur from Australia to capture the Philippines and Admiral Nimitz would lead an attack to take out many of their important islands from Hawaii. This tactic was called island hopping. The two would then meet up to take out Japan's central islands. Japan's attacks stopped along with all other Axis involvements and the Allies could see a path to victory, although it would be a hard one.
