The longest military conflict in WWII, it was at its most intense from mid-1940 through to the end of 1943. The Battle of the Atlantic consisted of U-boats and other warships of the German navy and aircraft of the German air force against the Canada’s Navy, the UK’s Navy, United States’ Navy and Allied merchant shipping boats.
