Civil War (apr 12, 1861 – may 13, 1865)
Description:
The Civil war began after Abraham Lincoln was elected president and tensions between the free and slave states rose higher than ever. States began to secede the union until Lincoln made it illegal and ordered Congress to shut down the so called act of rebellion. The conflict first broke out in April when shots were fired, killing more than 600,000 soldiers. The union was close to a collapse due to battle after battle. The Civil War ended with the 13th amendment which freed all slaves in America. The Civil War is significant because it helped to shape America into what it is today and led to the freedom of all slaves and union within.
